Are you a daydreamer?
Do you catch yourself gazing into the void, imagining yourself in a different time and space, and becoming lost in the emotions?
I know I do! Daydreaming is one of my favourite things to do. It's amazing how many positive feelings can be generated by simply imagining or remembering different scenarios. When you take yourself off into your imagination, anything is possible.
And it’s exactly this which means that we can put ourselves into a positive state whenever we desire. This is because our minds and bodies cannot tell the difference between reality and imagination. The emotions we experience are just as genuine and intense, whether they are real or not. Think about your first celebrity crush – those emotions were undeniably real, yet they were purely a creation of the mind.
The beauty of this is that we can use the power of our mind to inject some positivity into our day and boost our emotions.
Feeling anxious? Remember or imagine a time when you were feeling really relaxed.
Feeling low? Remember or imagine a time when you were feeling really happy.
Feeling angry or stressed? Remember or imagine a time when you were feeling really loved.
Each time you do this make sure you take in all your senses - see what you saw, hear what you heard and feel all the feelings of that emotion.
